ORGANIZERS VIEW THE CLASSICS -- Organizers of this year's annual LeRoy Haynes Center Annual Classic Car Show fundraiser and La Verne Chamber of Commerce Biz Expo 2010 pause to take a look at one of the entries in this year's competition in downtown La Verne. Pictured admiring a custom 1953 Studebaker Starlight Coupe are, from left, car owner Leonard Knight of Glendora (seated behind the wheel); La Verne Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Brian McNerney, co-chair of the event; car show co-chairman Dave Davidson of PT River Run; Connie LaMarche, President and Founder of Cruisin' La Verne, last year's co-chairman; and Dan Maydeck, President and CEO, LeRoy Haynes Center. Nearly 140 vehicles participated in this year's event.
What a difference a weekend makes. A week ago, University of La Verne students were graduating and moving out of the downtown area and this past weekend, the classic cars moved in, more than 200 of them shined to a brilliant spit polish and gleaming from bumper to brilliant hood ornament.
