Bonita players will be in full football gear Saturday, with hopes of being as hot as they were on Friday night.

LA VERNE, Calif. August 25, 2015 — With the Smudge Pot now less than 24 hours away at Citrus College (7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 26), Bonita High School held a bonfire and rally for its beloved Bearcats football team on Friday night. The lower field by the tennis courts and baseball was ablaze with school pride and hundreds of students watching performances by the band, flag and dance teams before the bonfire was finally ignited, sparking even more cheers and chants calling for a Bonita victory.

The evening was like a midsummer night’s festival filled with games, a photo booth, and a truck serving shave ice.

The bonfire capped an amazing week on the Bonita campus, which welcomed students back to campus with various fashion themes, including days in which students were asked to wear headbands and bandanas, Hawaiian shirts and tie dye shirts.

Only one questions remains on Friday night. What kind of football team will Bonita field in 2017? For some early answers, La Verne Online will sit down with head Bonita football coach, Ibis Aguilar, at 8 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 26.

Stay tuned!
