sunday-drive-adobe-grill1If you don’t want to shell out for a room at the Waldorf-Astoria-owned La Quinta Resort in La Quinta, Calif., consider dropping in for dinner or happy hour at the Adobe Grill on the well manicured grounds of this special desert oasis.

For about $25, you can enjoy a couple of tamales and a signature margarita on the patio, while listening to music in the open-air plaza.

Should you be on the grounds from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, take advantage of the “Power Hour” during which you can order Adobe Margaritas for $3 and Victoria beer for $2. Happy hour doesn’t include free eats, so you might want to spring for the guacamole prepared at your table.

Adobe Grill also features a three-course dinner menu with a delicious house margarita for $39 Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

If money is no object or the boss is picking up the tab, by all means, try the salmon tostada, Mero Empanizado (pecan-maple crusted halibut) or carne asada.

Live music is featured Wednesday through Saturday during evening hours. You’ll never lack company because overhead is a nightly canopy of stars twinkling down their approval.

During your visit, be sure to stroll the palatial grounds, taking in all the hacienda-style charm around every turn and alleyway. Who knows what indiscretions you’ll find? For years, Hollywood luminaries have made this hideaway at the foot of the Santa Rose Mountains their personal refuge.

La Quinta Resort is located at 49499 Eisenhower Dr. For more information, call (760) 564-5725.
