After holding on for the 8-6 win, the Farm Division Reds celebrate.

On team photo day, it was a picture postcard morning and afternoon at Pelota Park with a full slate of games in all divisions in the first full week of spring.

In early action, Chase Sojka’s 4-for-4 performance, including a double and three RBIs, helped lead the Dodgers to a 14-3 win over the Rockies.  Both teams had entered the contest 2-2. The Dodgers’ Johnny Martinez also had a big day at the plate with two hits, two RBIs and a triple. From his shortstop position, he also charged a high hopper to throw out the runner on the final bang-bang play of the game. The Dodgers used three pitchers in the game and all threw effectively. Martinez first took the hill before giving way to Jacob Miller. Andrew Castro closed out the victory.

Meanwhile, it was the Dodgers and Reds playing on the Farm Field. The Reds won 8-6, but not before the Dodgers pushed two runs across in the final frame to make the game close.

On the Minor Field, the Cardinals defeated the A’s 4-1. Again, the game was closer than the final scored indicated. The A’s loaded the bases in the top of the sixth to throw a scare into the Reds.

Meanwhile, over at Bonita High School, the Bearcats extended their record to 9-1 when Tanner Diebold, a former Little Leaguer, delivered a clutch single in the bottom of the seventh to drive in Woody Reyes and give Bonita the 2-1 win over Tustin.

This week, mark Thursday, March 29 on your calendar. That’s when Bonita hosts the Los Altos Conquerors, seen by many as Bonita’s main rival for the top spot in the Hacienda League. Game time is 3:30 p.m.

The Major Division Dodgers improved their record to 3-2 with their 14-3 win over the Rockies.
