WORLD SERIES OF POKER COMING TO LA VERNE? WELL, SORT OF

Dog clipper by day, card shark by night, Mark Levy, owner of Palace Pet Salon in La Verne, is chairman of the Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament Fundraiser on March 24.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to make it to the final table at the World Series of Poker? Well, you will have your chance on March 24, 2012 as the La Verne Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Texas Hold’em Fundraiser.

The Tournament will be open to anyone 21 years of age or older and will be held at The Fountains Clubhouse, 3530 Damien Avenue in La Verne. Check in will be at 5 p.m. with cards in the air at 6 p.m.

The entry fee of $50 will include $6,250 in chips and a great dinner, including snacks and dessert. Beer, wine and other beverages will also be made available.

The Tournament will follow standard Texas Hold’em rules with unlimited rebuys until break-time. Also, there will be an opportunity to add-on up to $10,000 in additional chips during the break. There will be a drawing great raffle prizes and Tournament player’s-pool pay outs will be based on the amount of participating players, rebuys and add-ons.

You don’t have to be an expert poker player to have fun. And, who knows, lady luck just may be with
