Entering his sixth season as Bonita head baseball coach, John Knott is calling all former Bonita players to participate in an alumni game this Saturday at the Bearcats home field. The game is set for 11 a.m., with batting practice getting under way at 9:30 a.m.
Knott is asking players to arrive at about 9 a.m. to start warming up.
“Bonita has always had a good program, and it just seemed like the timing is right to reach out to all the past players who have made this program what it is.”
Players interested in suiting up and showing some of the current players how to play old-fashioned Bonita baseball should go on the website, www.bonitabaseball.com for more information. The site is also a good way to keep tabs on this year’s team (story on the 2012 team will be up later this week).
“We want to get as many former players out as possible,” Knott said. “We want to hear the stories, reflect on some great memories and just welcome back all the players over the years who have made the program a success.”
Knott added that he is especially looking forward to meeting players who played under different coaches in Bonita’s long baseball history.
“I’m looking forward to making all those introductions,” he said.
