The season for th La Verne Minor League Division came to an end Tuesday, with the St. Louis Cardinals holding off the Yankeees, 8-4 at Pelota Park, to take home the city championship.
The Cardinals came in as the No. 2 seed in the post-season tournament, and the Yankees came in ranked No. 1, but on Tuesday night it was the Cardinals flashing the No. 1 sign when the last out was recorded.
Congrats to all the players and the fantastic fan support that spilled out from the stands to around the outfield fences. The game had been close until the Cardinals exploded for four late-inning runs. The Yanks got two of those back, but their rally fell short in the final tally.
