Crime scene where automobile struck a tree along the Foothill Boulevard median.

Two women were killed early Saturday morning in La Verne after the driver of the car they were riding in allegedly fled the scene of a hit-and-run and crashed into a tree in the median of Foothill Boulevard near Wheeler Avenue.

Alan McConnel, 27, was with the two women in a 2000 Pontiac when he reportedly struck a car near Foothill and Damien Avenue about 12:45 a.m. McConnell then fled east on Foothill and struck a tree in the center divider near Wheeler, according to witnesses.

Officers found McConnell inside the car, dazed but with no apparent injuries. He was arrested on suspicion of murder, driving under the influence and hit-and-run.

One woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A second female was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center where she later died. Their names have not been released.006
