Noah gets a hug.

What better way to honor the spirit of the holidays than to give someone who is very ill the chance at a better, healthier life.

Noah Ramos is a 5th grade student at La Verne Heights Elementary School, who has been diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia. His bone marrow is not producing red blood cells. Noah continues to receive blood transfusions and his doctors are now looking to start the search for a marrow donor. The most likely donor is a sibling. However, 70% of patients don’t have a match in the family and rely on the generosity of volunteer donors to save their life.

That donor could be you!

On Tuesday, December 22, 2009, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints, in conjunction with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, will be hosting a blood drive and marrow registry sign-up. To make an appointment, please email mkech@roadrunner.com with your name, phone number and preferred appointment time. If you have questions, please contact either Robin Carder at 909.208-6602 or Michelle Kechichian at (909) 815-9673.

To join the registry, you need to be between the ages of 18 and 60, meet the health guidelines and be willing to donate to any patient in need. For more information, contact 1 (800) MARROW-2 or BeTheMatch.org.
