David & Margaret Youth and Family Services Needs You Now — Or Actually, this Thursday, Aug. 6

dam1David & Margaret Youth and Family Services will host its annual Summer Service Day on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at the La Verne campus located at 1350 Third Street. The non-profit agency is recruiting community groups and members to participate along with its staff and youth residents in special, rewarding projects.

 

Morning and afternoon volunteer shifts will be available (8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.). The agency will provide breakfast (7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.), lunch and an afternoon ice cream social.

Projects will be available for all ages and ability levels. Service Day plans include painting, gardening, landscaping, and some minor construction work at the picturesque 12-acre campus. Service Day is an easy one-day volunteer opportunity for corporate groups, faith-based groups, students, scouts or anyone looking to give back to their community.

David & Margaret Youth and Family Services has been serving children and families throughout Southern California since 1910. Current programs include a residential treatment program for adolescent girls, a foster family agency, adoption services, educational and mental health services, family preservation support, school-based counseling, mentoring, learning disabilities treatment, a self-injury program, and other community-based education programs for youth and families.
