Holiday Half Marathon Hosts FREE 1 Mile Penguin Waddle Kids Run

On Your Marks, Get Set Go: Running down the raceway at Fairplex.

Kids ages 6 to 12 from around Southern California will have the opportunity to run the Holiday Half Marathon Penguin Waddle 1 Mile Fun Run for FREE at Fairplex in Pomona on Saturday, December 10.  The event is being hosted in partnership with Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC), and supported by the non-profit 100 Mile Club® whose mission is to challenge kids to run 100 miles over the school year.
 
The FREE Penguin Waddle 1 Mile Kids Fun Run is expected to sell out. Kids must register online in advance by visiting www.RunHolidayHalf.com.  The Kids Run will start in waves at 10 am with youth running in their own age group. The course will start and finish inside Fairplex in Pomona, Home of the L.A. County Fair.

“Encouraging children to be physically active is so important to help them establish a lifelong healthy lifestyle,” said PVHMC President/CEO Richard E. Yochum.  “The Penguin Waddle is a fun way for kids to have fun, be healthy and is an example for living healthy.  We’re excited about being a part of the Holiday Half Marathon for the third year and we look forward to being on-site at all the different runs for any medical issues that might occur.”

The Holiday Half Marathon events will have an expected 7,000 participants over the weekend. Events include the Holiday 5k and the FREE Penguin Waddle 1 Mile Kids Fun Run being held on Saturday, December 10, and the Half Marathon being held on Sunday, December 11.
