The Bonita varsity and junior varsity girls basketball banquet at the Hillcrest Meeting House in La Verne might have been a laugher, but the season hardly was as the varsity girls finished with the best record in school history, 30-4, earning a trip to the CIF-SS 3A sectional finals and then a three-game run in the CIF state playoffs.

After grinding through a high-pressure season, it was time to lighten things up as Assistant Coach Bruce Becker certainly did at the expense of Lauren Neff.

Taylor Anderson, left, and Madison Zylstra topped every all-everything list at the end of the season, but even if they hadn't, they would have still been smiling. Taylor is off to Loyola in L.A. while Maddie hits the road to BYU to keep an eye on brother Brock.

There ought to be law against parents having more fun than their kids. Then again, can you blame the Andersons and the Zylstras for chuckling. They get their lives back, kinda, now that the kids are off to college.
