The La Verne Chamber of Commerce and David & Margaret Youth and Family Services are hosting a Community Picnic on Saturday May 14 on David & Margaret’s main campus – and you’re invited to participate as either an attendee or sponsor.

Last year’s picnic and festival, featuring games, prizes, raffles, a dunk tank and lots of tempting food booths, was a huge success and this year’s installment should prove even more fun.

For vendors it’s a can’t miss-event. Vendors do not have to pay a sponsorship fee, but instead are asked to donate 10% of their day’s sales to the David & Margaret Recreation and Art Programs. This donation is completely tax-deductible, and donors may encourage customers to purchase their wares with this charitable incentive. Moreover, vendors will have their business or service announced and promoted throughout the day.

At the same, it’s only $50 to be a Gold Sponsor. For this contribution, you receive a color ad in the program, plus a table to display your business information, two chairs and a space if requested, for your E-Z up. Electricity can be requested but is very limited. In keeping with the family picnic theme, David & Margaret requests that businesses host a game at their table and award small prizes for participants.

“This is a one-of-a-kind community event for 2011 that will provide high visibility for your business or service should you choose to attend or take advantage of our available promotional opportunities,” said Kathy Wessels, Director of Development.

All funds raised help support David & Margaret Youth and Family Services’ mission to empower children, youth and families through culturally diverse services that foster emotional, educational, spiritual, and identity development. Since 1910 the agency has had a proud tradition of serving children, youth and families in need, and has a successful track record in changing people’s lives through a comprehensive range of services. The agency offers residential services and an on-grounds school for adolescent girls, two emergency shelters for adolescent youth, a foster family agency, adoption assistance, a self-injury program, mental health services, family preservation support, treatment for learning disabilities, and other community-based programs for youth and families.

Special guest invitees to the Community Picnic will include La Verne Mayor Don Kendrick and council members Robin Carder, Charlie Rosales, Donna Redman, and Robert Rodriguez, area Chamber of Commerce businesses, the La Verne Friends of the Library, David & Margaret Board of Directors, Joan Macy School Board of Directors, community advocates, donors and alumni.

If you are not able to attend as a guest or as a sponsor, David & Margaret asks that you consider donating an item for its chance drawings. Your donation would be another way for you to express your goodwill or promote your business. To secure your sponsorship and assure your inclusion on printed materials, please contact Kathy Wessels at (909) 596-5921, x 3246 or WesselsK@DavidandMargaret.org.
