opera2The newly formed Cultural Arts Society of La Verne is very pleased and excited to announce their 2010-11 inaugural season, to be performed in the beautiful Hillcrest Meeting House located at 2705 Mountain View Drive in La Verne.   Come and enjoy live opera, a 60-piece symphony orchestra, and an inter-faith Festival of Sacred Music without the long drive into Los Angeles, parking fees, and sky-rocketing ticket prices.  Mark your calendars and plan to enjoy a season of extraordinary musical talent in our own back yard!

Saturday evening, November 20, 2010, the Repertory Opera Company will be performing a rich sampler of works from well-known operas.  This will be an evening for opera lovers and those new to opera to relish and enjoy.  Comprised of a cast of astonishingly talented local singers, most of whom also carry international credits, the Repertory Opera Company is dedicated to making the beauty and drama of opera available to everyone.   Tickets will go on sale in October.

Saturday evening, March 5, 2011, the Meeting House will be filled with the joy and harmony of interfaith groups from the greater La Verne community sharing in Festival of Sacred Music.  This will be an opportunity to engage, experience and connect with people of diverse backgrounds, and celebrate our similarities.

Sunday afternoon, May 15, 2011 the Los Angeles Doctors Symphony Orchestra will be performing.  This orchestra is one of the oldest community orchestras in the United States with its origin in the health professions.  Dr. Ivan Shulman is celebrating his 20th season as music director of the orchestra, conducing the orchestra in Los Angeles, as well as Santa Barbara and Santa Fe, New Mexico.   A dessert will be served following the performance where the audience will have the unique opportunity of meeting Dr. Shulman and members of the orchestra personally.

The Cultural Arts Society of La Verne (CASoLV) is dedicated to encouraging artistic expression and the pursuit of the arts within our local community.   Made up of representatives from the City of La Verne, the University of La Verne, Hillcrest and the La Verne Chamber of Commerce, CASoLV has been formed with the intent of providing local access to enriching cultural programs several times a year in the 400+ capacity Hillcrest Community Meeting House.  CASoLV is also committed to offering access to these events to students in our community with the help of generous donations from our patrons.    Tax-deductible donations can be made to Hillcrest with CASoLV/Students in the memo line.  Please call Scott Snider, Hillcrest Staff Liaison, at (909) 392-4358 for further information.
