La Verne Methodist Church

This summer, La Verne area parents will have the extraordinary chance of having their kids’ Summer Day Camp field trips included in one low weekly fee, and the kids will get the value of learning peacemaking skills in a Christian environment.

The La Verne United Methodist Church is sponsoring a Summer Day Camp for youth in grades 1-8 in the Fall of 2010. The Camp runs for 10 weeks, Monday, June 14-Friday, August 20. Hours are 7:00 a.m.-6 p.m. All weekly sessions are currently open.

The La Verne UMC campus is located within walking distance of the public library, movie theaters and the park and swimming pool, so youth can participate in a wide variety of activities. The low fee includes all weekly field trips, with chartered bus transportation, include: Corona del Mar, Knotts Berry Farm, Aquarium of the Pacific, an Angels game and more.

The overall theme of the Day Camp is Peaceable Kingdom. Being at peace with ourselves, family and community is essential in a world with so much violence. Our Summer Camp directors have training and experience in teaching strategies for building peaceful relationships in a way that’s both educational and fun.

Now’s the time to take advantage of our 10% “recession special.” Rates are now $125 per week for 5 days, $110 a week for 4 days. Registration fees are $75 for grades 1-4 in Fall, 2010 and $125 for grades 5-8 in Fall, 2010.

T-shirts are included, and again – there is no additional fee for any of the field trips. Our $125.00 registration fee for the older youth includes a Raging Waters pass because they will be attending Raging Waters each week.

Our Day Camp will be offering some scholarship support for youngsters who might otherwise not be able to afford our program. Contact us at summercamp@laverneumc.org.
