Holy Name of Mary Festival Springs to Life This Weekend

ferris-wheel2The Holy Name of Mary Family Festival will be offered three days this year. Set for April 16, 17, and 18, the 2010 Festival is a mix of traditional offerings and brand new excitement. This year’s festival was moved from fall to spring, and a third day of festivities was added. In addition to the carnival rides and games, there will be face painting and a photo booth. A boutique will offer handmade crafts themed around holidays and religious events, and will feature a kids’ section. Festival hours on Friday are from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Food offerings include the newly added Italian and barbecue tri-tip booths, among the traditional favorites of pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, Mexican, and Filipino Food. The bakery booth and sweet shop will be back this year, along with funnel cake.  Margaritas, beer and wine will be offered for adults 21 and over, as well as a new wine tasting area. Four two- ounce pours will be offered for $10, where patrons can taste and learn about different wines they’ve never sampled before.

Cash Prizes are being offered in the Grand Raffle. Three prizes are being awarded in the sums of $5,000, $3,000, and $1,000. Tickets are $3 per ticket, $30 for a book of 10 tickets, or $50 for two books of 10. Early Bird drawings for $100 each are being held on March 14, March 21, March 28, and April 4. Tickets can be purchased through the school or parish office. Bingo will also be offered each day of the festival with cash prizes.

There will be entertainment on the main stage for the duration of the Festival. Friday night, April 16, will feature The Answer, a classic rock group, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.  On Saturday evening, the dance band, Cold Duck, will perform from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Local performing groups, dance studios, students, and community members will also participate throughout the weekend.

Pre-sale Ride wristbands for unlimited rides on Friday will be sold for $15 and can be purchased from the school office or after masses on Sunday. Pre-sale tickets for Saturday and Sunday are sold in sheets of 24 tickets for $15.

Holy Name of Mary Parish is located at 124 S. San Dimas Canyon Rd. in San Dimas , Ca. Additional parking for the Festival will be offered at Damien High School located at 2280 Damien Ave. , on the corner of Bonita and Damien Ave, beginning at 6 p.m. Friday. A shuttle van will be available for the elderly and physically impaired.
