St. John’s Episcopal Rolls Out Holy Week Slate of Events

St. John's always captures the spirit of the season.

March 28th, Palm Sunday

services at 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. and Hot Cross Buns Brunch

April 1st, Maundry Thursday, 7:00 p.m., with traditional biblical foot-washing and stripping of the Altar

April 2nd, Good Friday, 3-hour Stations of the Cross Service, noon – 3:00 (parishioners come and go as time permits) and Ecumenical Service at 7:00 p.m.

April 3rd, Easter (Resurrection Sunday), services at 8:00 and 10:00 a.m., Easter Egg Hunt following. (Evening prayer will not be offered Easter Sunday.)

Worship Schedule: Every Sunday Saint John’s offers worship services at 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. and a 6:00 p.m. Evening Prayer Service with Holy Eucharist in an atmosphere of candlelight and stillness. A Healing Service is offered Tuesday mornings at 10:00 a.m.

Activities: Quilting Group meets Thursdays at 9:00 a.m. and welcomes new quilters; Youth Group meets most Sundays at 4:00 p.m.

Grief Series: Living through and Finding Hope in Life Transitions, Changes and Losses is four-week series being offered by local grief counselor Ron Beams at Saint John’s La Verne on Thursdays April 15, 22, 29 and May 6, 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. The series is designed for those who have experienced the death of a loved one, a major life transition (retired, laid off, forced move/downsized living), change in family dynamics (divorce, empty nest) or change in health/mobility. Suggested donation of $30 will help to cover expenses. Space is limited. Please RSVP to vicar@stjohnslaverne.org or 909/596-1321.
