A Life Celebrated: Johanna Louise Gruen

Johanna was always celebrating a life lived well, above, and below, with one of her 22 grandchildren, Nico Barbone, at his graduation from San Dimas High School.

Johanna Louise Gruen passed away peacefully on Jan. 10, 2010. She is survived by her children and their spouses Joanne and Ed Morrissey; Gerry and Laurie Gruen; Linda Hall; Patti and Tim Silvera; Mary Smith; Rick and Kathleen Gruen; and Canice and Chris Barbone.

She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren as well as many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Arthur Greun. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held at Custer Christiansen Mortuary in Covina on Jan. 18, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., with rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Louise de Marillac Catholic Church in Covina on Jan. 19 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. at Riverside National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to McKinley Children’s Center, Relay for Life or Children’s Hospital of Orange County.
