La Verne Girls Softball Assn. Pulls Off Triple Play

The La Verne Girls Softball Association was back in the spotlight on Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, as three of the league’s teams were honored by the La Verne City Council for advancing and competing in the State Championships and quarter finals.

Called up first were La Verne’s 10 and Under All-Stars. The team placed fourth in the District Championships before advancing to the State Championships and the quarter finals. Manager Kevin McClure and coaches Jorge Fazzini, Kevin Jackson and Pierre Handez ran the team. On the roster were:

Taylor Alley, Sofia Carranza, Dakota Casper, Jenna Gonzales, Alexxis Hernandez, Brooke Jackson, Sierra Korn, Keely Marquez, Kelsey McClure, Kaelyn McFadden, Leticia Morales, Gianna Rossi, and Marina Williams.

The 12 and Under All-Stars next called to the front of the Council Chambers placed first in the District Championship. They advanced to the State Championships and the quarter finals. The team was managed by Steve Carrillo and coached by Chris Carpenter, Tim Gatlin, and Jody Moore. Filling the roster were:

Lauren Calderaro, Chelsea Carpenter, Mikayla Carrillo, Bailie Carroll, Brittan Ciauri, Loraine Gatlin, Brittany Griffin, Hailey Long, Lauren Mara, Abby Milner, Shelbie Moore, Veronica Ortega and Ali Segura.

Last up, was the 14 and Under All-Star team that placed third in the District Championships before advancing to the State Championships and the quarter finals. Many of the players will soon be competing for spots on their high school softball teams. The team was managed by Vincent Rico and was coached by John Meyer, James O’ Brien and Albert Rivera. Team members included:

Julie Barton, Lauren Bugelli, Sarah Carranza, Amy Clark, Michelle Gramata, Bailey Henry, Dakota Hollister, Alyssa Meyer, Nicholette O’Brien, Katie Ortega, Emma Sparrel, Madeline Rico, Jillian Zoroya.
