Mark Your Calendar: Bonita Headed Back to Pasadena to Face Mayfair, Nov. 24

It's rare to catch Allie LaPierre without a smile, but she and her 411 kills are deadly serious about bringing their "A" game to Mayfield on Tuesday night.

Perhaps, the only reason Bonita lost to Los Altos in the CIF finals was the team was looking ahead to the state playoffs. Well, the state finals are here as Bonita (17-7) meets CIF-SS 3A champion Mayfield High School (19-6), on Tuesday at 7 p.m. on Mayfield’s home court.

In Bonita’s loss to Los Altos, there was a sense the team might have taken the Conquerors lightly, given the Bearcats had twice defeated Los Altos in regular league play.

This time, Bonita will have to bring a complete effort — from the opening tip to the last point — if it expects to beat the Cubs, who are led by Rachel Aragon, who has 222 kills and Hannah Schraer, with 221.

If Bonita survives, it will square off on Saturday against the winner of the Cathedral Catholic (27-7) of San Diego or Warren (11-4) match.
