LA VERNE, California, November 7, 2017 — On Monday, the La Verne City Council kicked off a patriotic week by saluting two of the town’s newest military members, Nicholas J. Amen (Army) and Marcus Fino (Army). Each honoree’s family was presented with a mini-banner in honor of their sons’ service.

A brief reception followed their public recognition. La Verne now has a total of 68 members serving in the U.S. military.

On Saturday, Nov. 11,  VFW Post 12034 and the City of La Verne will host a Veterans Day celebration at Veterans Hall in La Verne (corner of Wheeler Ave. and Bonita Ave.) at 11 a.m. Two active service members, who were at the Las Vegas mass shooting and helped concertgoers to safety, including a La Verne woman, will be honored guests and speakers.

The Post will provide refreshments after the event.
