The economy ebbs and flows – sometimes wildly – but the appeal of golf remains constant. In October, businesses and golfers will team up under the aegis of TEAM Referral Network to enjoy a day of golf and networking at Sierra La Verne Country Club, while benefiting non-profit organizations in their own communities.
Through their relationship with La Verne-based TEAM, several charities – David & Margaret Youth and Family Services, Pomona Valley Workshop, Soroptimist International Covina/West Covina Chapter, The Foundation for Community and Family Health, Foothill Unity Center, Hillsides, and Kidney Quest Foundation – will share the proceeds of the golf outing and mixer. Last year, the event brought in $20,000, and this year is planning to do even better.
“There are no sure-fire funding sources, given the state of the economy,” says David & Margaret Youth and Family Services Publicity Coordinator Julie Griffith. “Most donors’ investments have been hit hard by stock market fluctuations and general economic uncertainty, so it’s harder for us nonprofits to obtain the funding we need to continue providing our vitally needed services. The businesses in our TEAM chapters are supportive in of their non-profit ‘TEAMmates’ in so many ways, and this event is an opportunity for the rest of the community to join in.”
TEAM Referral Network founder Kelli Holmes began bringing together non-profits with the first TEAM Referral Network Golf Tournament in 2005. The goal is to help non-profit TEAM members with their mission of making a difference by improving the lives of local children and families.
“Before TEAM Referral Network had even one member, I knew that we wanted to offer a free membership for non-profits to join our referral groups. Business owners want to help their communities and TEAM provides these opportunities. It’s a classic win-win,” Holmes says. “The TEAM Referral Network Charity Golf Tournament is yet another way TEAM and its business members support its non-profit members, and encourage local businesses to contribute to local organizations that provide vital programs and services in their communities.”
The Sixth Annual TEAM Referral Network Charity Golf Tournament will be held Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Sierra La Verne Country Club at 6300 Country Club Drive, La Verne. Early
Bird pricing for golf packages starts at $115 per golfer. Other golf packages are available. Non-golfers are invited to attend the networking dinner/ mixer and silent auction for $29 per person. Sponsorship opportunities, including tee sponsorship and booth sponsorship, are also available. For more information call (909) 392-7770 or visit www.teamreferralnetwork.com.
