Martha Henderson and Cheryl Kling, owners of the Sinfully Sweet Apple Company in La Verne, were rubbing shoulders once again with the some of the biggest names in Hollywood over the 4th of July holiday.
Comedian George Lopez couldnât resist asking the ladies to donate some of their sinfully delicious apples to his red carpet salute to U.S. troops at the 13th Annual 4th of July Celebration at CBS Radford Studios.
They created and delivered more than 300 custom apples in a variety of flavors for which theyâve become well known, as well as producing a signature George Lopez apple featuring his foundationâs edible logo. The gourmet Thin Mint, Blue Hawaiian, Cookie Dough, Campfire, Strawberry Shortcake, Pecan Pie, Almond Roca, Snickerdoodle, Crushed Butterfinger and White Chocolate Raspberry apples were a huge hit.
Earlier in the year, the Food Network turned its spotlight on Martha and Cheryl, and now it seems everyone in Southern California wants a piece of the apple. Organizers of the âChocolate â The Eventâ hand-selected the Sinfully Sweet Apple Company to participate in its upcoming chocolate, coffee, wine and music festival, July 29-30, at the Center Street Promenade in Anaheim.
The La Verne shop is spoiling locals with its ongoing fun and creativity. It seems every time you walk in the shop, Sinfully Sweet is expanding its creative offerings. Beyond the special occasion hand-crafted, hand-dipped apples, you can find gourmet popcorn, chocolate-covered pretzels, chocolate dipped fortune cookies, chocolate dipped bananas and much more (chocolate-cover bacon, say it ainât so!).
Of course, the apples are the main show and causing the phone to ring off the hook from La Verne to Hollywood.
âWe pride ourselves on making the most innovative and artful caramel apple creations, many of which cannot be found anywhere else,â said Cheryl, who was being assisted in the kitchen on Thursday by Danielle Downtain. âOur apples are nothing less than a work of art. Not only are they beautiful, but best of all, they taste fantastic!
âWhether you are looking for the plain âClassicâ caramel apple, something from our âGourmetâ line or our âCandy Barâ line we have something for everyone.â
Even sugar free!
Sinfully Sweet has also become a lovable hub for Girl Scout groups, birthdays and other celebrations, with moms and dads assisting their children in creating and decorating character apples that range from Winnie the Pooh to Hello Kitty.
If there’s a sweeter place in La Verne, we don’t know about it.
