Brian Edward Champion, graduating senior at Bonita High School, obtained the rank of Eagle Scout on May 11, 2011. He is the son of Elizabeth and Kyle Champion, of La Verne, and is a member of Troop 411.
Brian began as a Cub Scout with Pack 462 in 1999, advancing through the ranks of Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos. He earned the Arrow of Light before bridging into Boy Scout Troop 411 in June 2004.
In Boy Scouts, Brian exceeded the minimum requirements by completing 28 merit badges. He has earned the Gold Medal in Community Service hours, and has held Senior Patrol Leader, Historian and Troop Instructor leadership positions, among others. His camping experience of 82 nights included a backpack trip in Yosemite, and rock climbing in Joshua Tree.
During his Eagle Project, Brian led 32 volunteers providing 128 hours of re-landscaping and beautifying the southern entrance to Bonita High School’s Glenn Davis Stadium. The group planted native, drought-resistant plants, removed an unwanted willow tree and built a new public pathway.
In addition to his scouting experiences, Brian is a member of Key Club and Creativity for a Cause Club, as well as a member of the California Scholarship Federation and the Class of 2011’s Salutatorian. Beyond school, Brian is an acolyte captain at All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena.
Brian’s future plans include attending University of California, Los Angeles as a member of their honors program where he is planning to major in Chemistry.
Brian’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor will be held on Thursday, June 9th at 6:30 p.m. at United Methodist Church in La Verne.
