The Los Angeles County Fair honored La Verne, that most livable of towns in the U.SA., with its own parade down the fairground’s broadest and grandest avenue lined with well-wishers busily eating funnel cakes, roasted turkey legs and chocolate-covered bacon.

Representing the city were mayors and ex-mayors, councilmembers and ex-councilmembers, beauty queens (Miss San Gabriel Valley who lives in La Verne), dentists, cellists, school principals, war vets and ex-war vets, businessmen making oodles of cash and others just scraping by, the Bonita band and their groupies and roadies, bead throwers, retired senior volunteers, accountants and computer and insurance pros — all most in step to celebrate La Verne Day.

Enjoy the parade. Captions not necessary because on La Verne Day it’s all for one and one for all!

Didn’t get enough to eat at the fair. Then you better drop in at John and Will’s The Corner Butcher Shop in La Verne, where La Verne’s best brother act in town is always serving something special!
