At the conclusion of the La Verne 11-year-old all-star team’s long post-season, League President Brian Shively sent out this note to all in the community who have been following the boys this summer:
The La Verne Little League 11-year-old All-Star team finished its last tournament for 2010, dropping two close games to Rancho Rancho San Diego, 2-0, and 13-11.
Despite the tournament loss, La Verne still finished its longer summer run as SoCal Division III “North” Champions!
It was been a Great run for these boys and the league!
I would like to Congratulate Manager Kevin Smith, Coaches John Grapentin and Dave Peifer for their success with these boys. They conducted themselves very well and were outstanding representatives of the Volunteers at LVLL. Also, I would like to “Thank” all of the parents for their Dedication and Time to allow these Guys to go this far!
I know how much time is needed to be sure each player is at practice, games, and team events. I know how much Dedication it takes from each parent to make this all happen. I also know how much Pride you feel towards the team and Your very own Player!
Now I would like to “Thank” each and every player on the 11-year-old SoCal Division III North Championship Team! You boys have proven that hard work and dedication can pay off in Big ways! Each one of you have brought something to this team, and when they are all combined it put together something very special.
Not too many teams in LVLL’s history can say they were District 20 Champions! Section 3 Champions! and So Cal Division III North Champions! I would say that is something Very Special!
You have all made the League, the District, and the City very Proud of You!
One last note: Thanks to the District 20 Admins for being there night after night to support the 11-Year-old All-Stars!
Brian Shively, La Verne Little League President
