After watching the Independence Parade wind through town on July 3, march over to Hillcrest’s Meeting House at A Street and Mountain View Drive in La Verne to listen and dance to the fabulous Lindy Sisters and Gino and the Standards who will take you back to patriotic music and the sweet harmonic melodies of the 1940s. Swing and sing, and even buy a war bond or two just like the good old days.
If you close your eyes for just a second, Lindy Sisters Linda Lou, Loralei and Lynette will transport you to the World War II era when the Andrew Sisters were all the rage entertaining Allied Forces across the globe.
“We just want people to come out and have fun,” said Don Wicker, who is helping organize the Hillcrest event along with Al Eisenwinter.
The suggested donation is $10. Attendees can also purchase soft drinks and snacks.
Before festivities start, Hillcrest is also hosting a delicious barbecue with all the trimmings at 11:30 a.m. Again, the community is invited to enjoy this special Independence Day celebration lunch. The lunch cost is $7.95.
Hillcrest is located at 2705 Mountain View Drive. For more information about this patriotic event, call Don Wickert at (909) 392-1418.
