In perhaps their finest offensive display of the season, the lady Bearcats cruised to a 63-28 victory over the Charter Oaks Chargers on Friday night in La Verne.
Madison Zylstra had the hot hand early for Bonita, ringing up seven points in the first quarter. Meanwhile, Brianna Kennedy staunchly defended the basket, blocking several shots and frustrating many others. At the end of the first frame, Bonita led 17-5, and never looked back.
In the second, more Bearcats got into the scoring column, including Sarah Jackson, Lauren Hastings, Ariana Domasin and Taylor Anderson to help expand Bonita’s lead to 32-11 at the half.
“Offensively, we were off to a good start,” Bonita head coach Darren Baumunk said. “I think we had 11 girls scoring tonight, so that was nice to see.”
Also rounding out the scoring for Bonita were Lauren Neff, Jaclyn Smith, Natalie Reyes, Kennedy Reyna Sierra, Stephanie Herra and Aljandra Garay. On the night, Zylstra led all scorers with 15 points, followed by Anderson with 13 and Hastings with 9.
“We played well,” Baumunk said.
