4th of July Schedule of Events

6:30 a.m. Pancake Breakfast
Hosted by Boy Scout Troop 411, this traditional event
draws quite a crowd. Whether you come early to set up for the
parade or the country fair or you just want a great breakfast, you
can support the Scouts in the Methodist Church parking lot on D
Street across from Bonita High School.
8:00 a.m. Country Fair
This daylong event at Bonita High School includes a petting zoo,
pony rides, food vendors, craft vendors, game vendors, and lots of
entertainment. There are also events going on all day such as a
pancake eating contest in the morning, recognition of our military
families, karaoke contest, free watermelon slice, and more.
9:45 a.m. Pre-parade Harley Ride
150 shiny Harley motorcycles ride through the parade route
carrying flags representing all 50 states and all branches of the
military. Titled ā€œOne Nation Under God,ā€ this unique pre-parade
show will certainly catch your attention.
10:00 a.m. Parade
This is a traditional hometown parade on a 2.25 mile route through
La Verneā€™s oldtown. Special features of this parade include:
community grand marshal(s) nominated by the public, veterans and
military families, live music, neighborhood entries, classic and
vintage cars, and more.
4:00 p.m. Deep Pit BBQ
This event is in its 46th year hosted by the Methodist Church. The
meal includes BBQ beef or turkey, coleslaw, corn, and a roll.
Childrenā€™sā€™ meals are also available. The church is directly across
from the high school stadium where the fireworks show takes place.
6:00 p.m. Fireworks Show
The gates open at 6:00 p.m. The show begins at 7:00 p.m. The
Mayor serves as master of ceremonies. The show includes a
concert by the band ā€œThe Answerā€ and a professional fireworks
show.
