There’s a section of LaVerneOnline that’s called “Deals and Steals,” and you can find it under Arts & Entertainment. It’s just one more reason to visit LaVerneOnline daily.
Well, here’s the deal.
San Dimas Canyon Golf Course on Tuesday, June 23 at 6 p.m. is hosting a free talk/seminar on how to host your own golf event for either a fundraiser, employee appreciation day or other special occasion to fit your needs and purpose.
The featured speaker is Derek Duronslet, regional director of sales, for American Golf, which manages San Dimas Canyon Golf among the more than 130 golf courses it operates nationwide. American Golf is owned by Goldman Sachs, the global investment banking and investment firm.
Free hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served and some clubs will be raffled off. Now here’s the kicker: If you call Dave Fliegel, the golf course’s event coordinator at (909) 599-2313, ext. 4, he’ll even let you play nine holes of golf for free prior to the seminar. So, if the talk starts at 6 p.m., plan on getting to the course about 3 p.m.
Free talk, free hors d’oeuvres, free chance to win a big new driver or iron, free golf!
That’s a deal, that’s a steal. Any organization that needs to raise money – Little League, AYSO, Pop Warner, the band, the boosters, and other nonprofits should all rush to reserve their seats. Or if you’re a business in town that wants to recognize your employees in a novel, but inexpensive way, you’ll benefit greatly from this free seminar.
Golf makes for an outstanding fundraiser,” said Trip Stevens, the course’s general manager. “You’re out for a good cause, there’s a lot of camaraderie, it’s a day well spent, it’s healthy fun and it’s a tax write-off.”
Also, this Sunday, June 14, at 4 p.m., San Dimas Canyon Golf Course is sponsoring a $40 graduation twosome special for parent and child. The $40 includes green fees for two, a cart, hot dog lunch and awards. For reservations, call Fliegel at (909) 599-2313, ext. 4.
A couple of years ago, San Dimas Canyon Golf Course underwent an extensive $1.3 million renovation to the banquet facility and golf course. As a result, the course features bunkers are filled with crushed marble sand, the same silicate used by Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia, which hosts the annual Masters Golf Tournament. The distinctive rolling layout stretches over some 6,400 yards amid a country setting without any homes to muddle the idyllic setting. The front nine holes are relatively level while the back nine are moderately hilly. The greens are multi-tiered and challenging, and there are water features on five holes. All golf carts are GPS-equipped.
“It plays like a private country club,” Dave said, “but it’s open to the public. Instead of paying $40,000 to join a private club, you can pay $45 for daily green fees.” Actually, you get even better deals than that by hopping on Savesomegreen.com. You’ll find San Dimas Canyon under “Inland Empire.” Click on the course, and you’ll see all the course times and prices available, with green fees and a cart dropping as low as $26 per golfter for 18 holes during the week.
In other words, a version of Priceline.com has arrived on the golf course.
“We’re trying to sell our off-peak, our less-demand times,” Stevens said. “We’re offering great discounts to get those golfers who are looking for discounts to come out and fill our quiet times.”
Selecting times and dates for your golf tournament is also one of the features that will be discussed at the free June 23 seminar.
“They key is to pick the opportune day and time for your event,” Fliegel said, “so that I can give you a low rate, and food and beverage can give you a low rate, and then you go from there. That’s the best way to maximize revenues for your fundraiser.”
With San Dimas Canyon Golf Course, there’s never a shortage of ideas, clubs or holes to make for a great round of golf and a great day.
San Dimas Canyon Golf Course features full banquet facilities, coffee shop, pro shop and other on-course amenities for a full summer of healthful fun, sport and relaxation. For further information or to reserve your place at any of the upcoming events, call Dave Fliegel (909) 599.2313, ext. 4.
