According to The Association of Chiropractic Colleges, “Chiropractic is a health care discipline which emphasizes the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs and surgery. The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health.”

Facts about Chiropractic:

Chiropractic focuses on the musculoskeletal and nervous systems. Chiropractors diagnose abnormalities and perform chiropractic manipulations, or adjustments, to correct the problem. Many times, people feel immediate relief from pain after a chiropractic adjustment.

As with most professions, chiropractic has a set of beliefs that guide its practice. Those fundamental principles are:

  • The body has a powerful ability to heal itself.
  • The structure of the body, especially the spine, and its function are closely related.
  • The goal of chiropractic therapy is to restore the relationship between structure and function of the body to normal and to support the body as it heals itself.

Purpose of the Adjustment:  An Adjustment realigns the spine and relieves the muscle tension that causes pain in your body. The adjustment also opens up natural blood flow and allows the body to release toxins that have built up due to muscle tension.
