Tommy Dorsey epitomized the Big Band era.

The lush, big band sound is back, and the Bonita High School Jazz Ensemble will be producing it on March 5, 2010 at the fabulous and historic Fox Theater in Old Town Pomona on March 5, 2010.

“Join us for the days when class sailed the high seas, champagne was the drink of choice and Big Bands ruled the airwaves, said Kathryn Le Veque, Bonita Booster President and Event Co-Chair.”We invite the public to return to those nostalgia days and enjoy big band music, dinner, and a silent auction/raffle to raise money for the Bonita High School Instrumental Music Department.”

Did she mention dancing?

“There will also be swing dancing, so bring your dancing shoes,” Le Veque added.

Seating for dinner is tiered at $35, $30 and $25. There is also balcony seating available at a reduced price for those who do not want dinner but simply want to listen to great music from the 30’s and 40’s.

“Everyone is invited to experience the art deco of the Fox Theater and hear music from the theater’s heyday,” Le Veque said.

The Fox Theater offers spectacular balconies and décor that is unmatched in the San Gabriel Valley. Doors open at 6 p.m.  Please visit the the La Verne Bonita Band Boosters Association webiste for more information and to purchase tickets at www.lvbba.org or call Kathryn Le Veque, Booster President and Event Co-Chair, at 626-327-9202.

“Come and join our gala event to raise money for a very worthy cause,” Le Veque said.

Again, that’s the “Salute to the Big Bands” on March 5, 2010 at the historic Fox Theater. Buy your tickets today, and start swinging to the music!
