The Vikings could do no wrong on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, it was a big day for Viking sports as Ramona’s 8th and 7th grade volleyball and football teams swept Traweek (Covina) Middle School.

In volleyball, Ramona’s 7th grade squad won the match 3-0, posting game wins of 25-0, 25-5 and 24-12. In the third game, Emily Hertenstein’s powerful serves helped clinch the match for the Vikings. Dannell Soto coaches the team.

The Ramona 8th grade volleyballers had equal success against Traweek, winning 25-12, 25-18 and 25 15. Kala Buck serves as coach.

On the grass, Bonita was just as dominant. The 8th grade football team cruised to a 56-14 win. Tyler Poepping broke off one long touchdown run for the Vikings.

“The line did a good job, blocking down field,” coach Lou Parra said. “Our defense has played great two games in a row. Our line is better than usual.”

The 7th grade Vikings, however, saved the day’s best and most dramatic moment for last. On the final play of the game, staring at a 14-12 deficit, quarterback Dylan Flores found Johnny Flores streaking down the northern sideline for a 30-touchdown completion to give Ramona an improbable 18-14 win. The heart-stopping catch made it perfect afternoon for all teams from Vikingland!
