The only thing better than "Home for the Holidays" are three homes for the holidays.

What’s the best way to make the best part of the year even a little more special? Come “Home for the Holidays.”

That’s the name and theme for this year’s 2009 La Verne Holiday Home Tour, which will be held Nov. 21 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., when the public will be invited to tour three premier La Verne homes that will be decorated to the hilt for the holidays.

Proceeds from the holiday home tour will benefit the Grad Night celebrations of Bonita High School’s graduating classes of 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Grad Night, where students are transported and chaperoned to a surprise venue, became a tradition at Bonita and other high schools in response to overwhelming statistics from the California Highway Patrol showing increased death and injury rates from unsupervised celebrations. Bonita took the concept of a “safe and sober” celebration to heart and has made it part of the school’s rich heritage for many years.home-tour-2

Community support and participation are critical because it takes four years to raise the needed funds to host such an event. The Holiday Home Tour is the only event where all Bonita classes unite to raise funds for the graduation celebrations.

As the Nov. 21 tour approaches, more updates and details will be released. Tickets are now available for purchase from Dippin’ Dots in old town La Verne and Post Masters Plus located in the old Von’s shopping center at the northeast corner of Wheeler and Foothill. Tickets are $20 a person. Make checks payable to “Bonita Grad Night 2010.”

Just In:  Two of the homes will be serving refreshments, cookies at one and a chocolate fountain from “A Chocolate Affair” at the other.

Entertainment arrangements are also under way for one or two of the homes — this affair is getting better by the moment!
