Pink and green are Bonita's winning colors for October.

Normally green-and-white clad Bonita High School is changing its colors.

This month, the Bonita Spirit is selling pink poms for $3 each and donating all the proceeds from its sales to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in honor of the squad’s own Irene Montague who passed at the beginning of the school year.

Bonita Spirit is hoping that sales will be so brisk that on October 26th, the last home football game for the Bearcats, the stadium will be a sea of pink.

“We want the stands completely pinked out,” said Grace Burt, a Bonita parent helping organize the event. “The visiting side will be very impressed.”

Pink paint cans are already popping up across the Bonita campus, ready to receive change, cash and check donations. All checks need to be made out to the Susan G. Komen Foundaton with Bonita Spirit in the memo.

Local organizations, including Scout troops and club sports teams are purchasing the pink poms as fundraisers. For more information on how you can launch your own fundraising effort, please call Grace at (714) 615-1916.

“Let’s rock this fundraiser and sell these rooter poms, so we can make a difference,” Grace said.
