LA VERNE, California, October, 3, 2017 — Gilead Sciences, Inc., represented by Gilead executive Ed Bjurstrom and his wife Wendy, was recognized by La Verne Mayor Don Kendrick at the Monday, Oct. 2, City Council meeting, for the construction and completion of its new La Verne campus, comprising 23 acres and a 320,000 square-foot building at 1800 Wheeler Ave in La Verne.
When fully operational, Gilead will employ about 500 people, making it the second largest employer behind only the University of La Verne.
According to Bjurstrom, Gilead’s antifungal and antiviral drugs help save about 200 lives a day.
