LA VERNE, Calif., June 2, 2017 — Fellow teachers, friends and fans honored retiring Grace Miller Principal Deanne Spencer with an informal retirement party on Thursday, June 1, in one of the most fitting venues possible, the school cafeteria where the apple juice, orange juice and chocolate chip cookies were as abundant as all the crayons, glue sticks and blunt-tipped scissors she’ll be saying goodbye to.

Lots of pictures of past classes that Mrs. Spencer had a hand in shaping as either a teacher or principal also were on display to help people reminisce.

To read a brief story about Mrs. Spencer, her memories and where she’s headed next, simply click on PRINCIPAL DEANNE SPENCER: Retiring with Style and Grace (Miller) in the Education section.

Here are some farewell photos from the festive gathering:

Beautiful woman, outstanding presence. Principaled all 4 of my kids. She will be great anywhere.
