Holy Name of Mary Parish in San Dimas, California will be marking their 56th Anniversary with a large celebration on October 27, 2013, that will include a ground blessing ceremony for the new Parish Hall. The Celebration will begin at 2:00 p.m. with a gathering on the Church Lawn. Fr. Rich Danyluk will welcome attendees, whom are invited to bring soil from their own homes. A blessing will take place of the soil, which will serve as the Foundation for the new Parish Hall. The Parish has high hopes for starting construction next year on the highly anticipated new Parish Hall.
Activities will begin at 2:30 p.m., that will include contests and prizes, as well as food and Music. Attendees can visit the Petting Zoo and children can make crafts. A Classic Car Show, face painting, a Pumpkin Patch, and a Balloon give-a-way are all part of the festivities. The contests begin at 3:00 and continue all afternoon. Each contest has cash prizes. $50 for first place, $30 for second place, and $20 for third place.
The first contest, beginning at 3:00, will be a Pumpkin carving contest. At 3:30, a Classic Car Contest will be held. A Baked Goods contest will take place at 4:00 and a Chili Cook-off will close out the contests at 4:30 p.m. Live music is scheduled throughout the event, as well as food booths for all to enjoy.
