The economy is still riding the financial rollercoaster that started in the past decade, but the appeal of golf remains steady. In October, businesses and golfers alike will team up under the aegis of TEAM Referral Network to enjoy a day of golf and networking at Sierra La Verne Country Club, while benefiting non-profit organizations in their own communities.

Through their relationship with La Verne-based TEAM, several local charities – including David & Margaret Youth and Family Services, also in La Verne – will share the proceeds of the golf outing and mixer. Last year, the event brought in $20,000, and this year it’s expected to do even better.

“There are no sure-fire funding sources in this economy,” says David & Margaret Youth and Family Services Publicity Coordinator Julie Griffith. “Most donors, whether private, foundation or corporate, have been hit hard by stock market fluctuations and general economic uncertainty. That makes it more difficult for us nonprofits to obtain the funding we need to continue providing our vitally needed services. The businesses in our TEAM chapters are supportive of their non-profit ‘TEAMmates’, and this event is an opportunity for the rest of the community to join in while having fun and helping themselves through networking.”

“Before TEAM Referral Network had even one member, I knew that we wanted to offer a free membership for non-profits to join our referral groups,” says TEAM Referral Network founder Kelli Holmes. “Business owners want to help their communities and TEAM provides these opportunities.  It’s a classic win-win. The TEAM Referral Network Charity Golf Tournament is yet another way TEAM and its business members support their non-profit members, and encourage local businesses to contribute to local organizations that provide vital programs and services in their communities.”

The Seventh Annual TEAM Referral Network Charity Golf Tournament will be held Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Sierra La Verne Country Club, 6300 Country Club Drive, La Verne. Early Bird pricing for golf packages starts at $115 per golfer. Other golf packages are available. Non-golfers are invited to attend the networking dinner/ mixer and silent auction for $29 per person. Advertising opportunities, including a variety of sponsorship packages, are also available. For more information call (909) 392-7770 or visit www.teamcharitygolf.com.
