timFor once, La Verne caught Tim Morrison standing still long enough to honor him with the Jack Huntington Pride of La Verne Award for all he does for the city.

Normally, Morrison is on his motorcycle proudly kicking off the July 4th parade every year with 200 other riders roaring down D Street.

Tim is also part of a group that honors World War II veterans on the last Friday of each month, a tradition that makes La Verne unique among San Gabriel cities in the way it pays tribute to its war veterans.

On Monday, the La Verne City Council honored Morrison in a special ceremony. Flanking Morrison were his mother Alice, 92, a Navy lieutenant and nurse during World War II, and her daughter Kathleen. Carl Harstine, 87, a Marine who saw combat in the Pacific when he was just 17, also saluted Morrison for his and the Friends of the Fourth Motorcycle Group’s many contributions to the city.
