Rotarians Honor Former La Verne City Manager Marty Lomeli

Long-time and highy respected La Verne City Manager Marty Lomeli was honored by the Rotary Club of La Verne during its weekly meeting held in the Board Room of Hillcrest Homes. Mr. Lomeli joined the City of La Verne in 1981 and for 23 years served with distinction as City Manager. He retired from his position last month.

In addition to La Verne Rotarians, several city officials attended the historic event, among them: Mayor Don Kendrick, former mayor Jon Blickenstaff, Councilmembers Robert Rodriguez and Robin Carder, newly-appointed City Manager Bob Rossi, Parks and Recrteation Services Director Bill Aguirre, as well as Brian McNerney, President/CEO of the La Verne Chamber of Commerce. They all praised Mr. Lomeli’s distinguished service and dedication to the La Verne community.

Matthew Neeley, President of the Rotary Club of La Verne and President/CEO of Hillcrest Homes opened the meeting welcoming the august gathering and inviting Dr. Garbis Der-Yeghian, Past District Governor of Rotary International and La Verne Rotarian to make a special presentation to Mr. Lomeli. Dr. Der-Yeghian expressed his profound gratitude combined with his admiration to the honoree exalting his virtues as a visionary leader endowed with exceptional organizational and public relations skills. On behalf of La Verne Rotarians, he presented Mr. Lomeli, who 25 years ago represented the Rotary Club of La Verne as a Rotary Ambassador to India, with a special “Life-time Honorary La Verne Rotarian” certificate in appreciation of his exemplary service to the City of La Verne. President Neeley presented a unique “Rotary Polio Eradication” poster to Mr. Lomeli signed by all members of the Rotary Club of La Verne. In his brief remarks, Mr. Lomeli expressed his appreciation for the honor bestowed upon him and promised to continue supporting the endeavors of the Club.
