Buying a home, like just everything else in life, has grown more complicated. Every year, there are more rules, regulations, laws, loopholes, tax breaks and incentives to keep up with, especially if you’re purchasing a home for the first time.

To help consumers better understand and unravel the homebuying process, Century 21 Marty Rodriguez is offering free monthly homebuying seminars all year, with the first two-hour class scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 16, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the C21 Marty Rodriguez center at 1030 East Route 66 in Glendora. Registration starts at 10 a.m. in Suite C, located upstairs in the center. Refreshments will be served and one lucky attendee at each seminar will win a gift for the home.

“Our goal in hosting these free seminars,” said Ed Rodriguez, a member of the C21 Marty Rodriguez team, “is to give everyone a clear, unbiased perspective of the homebuying process.”

“Moreover, we want to instill consumer confidence in people right now. While the news often focuses on people losing their homes, the truth is, it’s actually one of the best times in history to purchase a home because of low interest rates, larger inventories of affordably priced homes, and current homebuyer tax credits that can save buyers up to $8,000 on their purchase. Additionally in this market, sellers often are willing to pay the buyer’s closing costs.

“To take advantage of these market conditions, buyers need all the right tools and information to be successful,” Ed added.

Some of the topics and issues Ed and his team cover in the class include:

·         Buying vs. Renting

·         Improving Your Credit

·         Selecting a Lender

·         Calculating Your Monthly Mortgage Payment

·         Learning What You Can Afford

·         Applying Current Homebuying Programs and Incentives

·         Shopping for a Home

·         Making an Offer

·         Negotiating

·         Signing Papers and Moving In

“Obviously, there’s a lot that goes into the first-time homebuying process,” added Ed. “That’s why we’re so committed to these free monthly classes and helping first-time home buyers gain the information, knowledge, confidence and ability needed to purchase, finance and comfortably enjoy their home.

“The sessions are concise, yet comprehensive. I think everyone who participates will leave better informed and prepared to make buying a home a reality.”
