Notes of Love Promises to be a Gem of an Evening

David & Margaret Youth & Family Services is inviting the public to attend its annual charity dinner and silent auction, Notes of Love, at the Sheraton Fairplex on Friday, Oct. 16.

Among the many highlights and festivities planned are a Treasure Hunt sponsored by Micky’s Jewelry Studio, where attendees can purchase one or more of 50 treasure boxes, five of which contain precious jewels to be revealed that evening. Attendees can also participate in an exciting silent auction, where the list of items is expected to attract lively bidding on everything from great travel vacations and romantic dinners to fabulous nights out on the town.

Former La Verne Mayor Jon Blickenstaff will serve as Master of Ceremonies. He will introduce Keynote Speaker Jon Beil, chief executive officer of Make the Difference Foundation (MTDN). Along with his daughter (actress, producer and philanthropist Jessica Biel), his son, Justin, and internet social entrepreneur, Kent McBride, Biel is focused on “changing the face of philanthropy” through the development of his unique cause-oriented social MTDN network, which allows potential donors to search the National Wish List, find and fund specific Wishes that touch their hearts, then see the impact of their donations and give donation feedback.

Meanwhile, David and Margaret has been serving children and families in need for a century (1910-2010). It offers a comprehensive range of services, including residential and an on-grounds school for adolescent girls, a foster family agency, adoption agency, adoption assistance, a self-injury program, mental health services, family preservation support, treatment for learning disabilities, transitional housing for youth ages 18 – 25 at risk for homelessness, mentoring program for youth in foster care, and other community-based programs for youth and families.
