Tricks of the Trade…Sample Sales…..
Every weekend I look forward to the LA Times Style section, not for their opinions on what they refer to as “style,” but because every week in very small print they list the upcoming sample sales! If you still love labels but can’t afford them sample sales are the way to go! Some of my best finds have been from sample sales! Ex: Primp outfit orig $280, bought for $20 at their sample sale! Also, I am a dedicated subscriber to dailycandy.com for their LA section. Daily Candy often informs you of upcoming sample sales. Sample sales are an amazing way to load up on designer items at an incredibly affordable price! A word to the wise … be prepared! Since Sample sales are so popular, lines usually form super early. You can get around this by arriving even earlier, or by getting in contact with the clothing lines beforehand! For example, some clothing lines have an email list where you can learn about the sale before everyone else! These sales are often at warehouses so parking can be difficult, also most places don’t have fitting rooms so head to a store that carries that line prior to the sale and try things on for size! Looking forward to all the upcoming Spring Sample Sales … see you in line … behind me, of course! XOXO, S

Creating A New Look With Something Old!
In these tough economic times why should your wardrobe have to suffer? Spring fashion is so exciting, be it the new glam dresses or the new “it” purses. I can’t get enough of it! But unfortunately, many of us aren’t able to indulge in the ways we wish we could when it comes to buying clothes. In fact, for me at least, buying clothes is the last thing I could justify buying right now! Instead of being upset by this, I challenge myself and you to work with what you’ve already got! I bet you would be surprised by how many outfits you can come up with using the pieces you already have! I personally like to go through everything I have to mix and match old pieces to create a new look!
EXCESSORIZE Your Life!
As celebrity stylist and fashion icon Rachel Zoe simply stated, “Accessories are everything. To me, they’re more important than the clothes.” Never underestimate the power of accessories! Take for example Angelina Jolie at the Oscars, even in her simple black dress her emerald earrings provided a huge splash of life to her ensemble. Although we can’t all afford Lorraine Schwartz (a girl can dream!), you can find similar items at Forever 21, So Good Jewelry, or Brass Plum for under $10! Your jewelry and accessories don’t have to be expensive to look amazing! Play it up with some colored baubles! And gold bangles go with just about everything! If you’re in a daring mood play it up with a fedora a la Britney Spears … that will instantly update any look! Don’t be afraid of fun headbands, either! Many of the popular looks out right now you can recreate yourself with some simple items from Michaels Craft Store! So don’t worry about not being able to afford the new hot look for Spring … create your own! XOXO, S
